SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
AVAILABILITY
(Great for beginners or for honing specific skills before a simulation.)
Hi there,
this is Shane Turner,
owner and instructor of the School of Survival.
Outside of my experience as a survival trainer, I'm also a certified life coach and have years of experience working with children, families, couples, and groups. My wife and I homeschool our six kids, so I have lots of personal experience in the homeschool community, as well.
I use speaking engagements as a FUN way to connect the dots between survival and my deeper passion:
helping others!
It's one of my favorite parts of what I do.
I just love it.
So what does this mean for you?
Some examples to get ideas flowing:
If you're a Church youth group, let's get your kids working together to construct shelter out of wood, and then use that experience to teach them the deeper meaning behind
Psalm 31:1-5.
If you're hosting a Pre-Marital class,
I bet I can make it unforgettable. What better way to exercise communication and trust between a bride-and-groom-to-be than to take them on a night-hike, survival-style?
So, with that said, here are some examples of Speaking Engagements, but contact me and let me know what you need:
...Oh, and I can speak solely on survival, too!

LAUGH & BE INSPIRED
WHO WE ARE
OUR STORY

Shane grew up in Ohio. When he was a young boy, his family didn’t have a TV or radio, but his grandpa used to bring home copies of Outdoor Life Magazine. That magazine--with its tales of long-distance survival stories, grizzly bear attacks, and harrowing journeys through hostile landscapes--was the spark that ignited Shane’s passion for the outdoors.
When he was 10, Shane began to wolf up any classic mountain man novel he could get his hands on. “I would always think, if that were my story, could I survive? They did. Could I? And...well, then I ran out of mountain men stories. So I moved onto stories of Native Americans. For them, survival was a way of life.”
With a head full of adventure, Shane found himself with plenty of his own crazy tales to tell. “My brother and I would strap our shotguns to our bikes, ride around the countryside, and ask neighbors if we could hunt in their woods. We’d make fishing poles, dig for worms, and catch fish in the river. And we’d take a hatchet, chop logs into pieces, and build forts...we built them so well that a person could live in one!”
Shane began to channel his love for the outdoors and hunting into survival. “The mountain men and Native Americans I read about as a child...they didn’t just survive, they thrived. Eventually I realized that, for me, survival is freedom. It is doing what I love to do, it deepens and enriches my relationship with my family, and it breathes life into the character of God in a hands-on way that is indescribable. That freedom is what I want to give to others.”
